When’s the last time Beyoncé came to your job and revealed that she was pregnant with her first child? Or Jay-Z and Kanye West dropped by your party to perform live on TV for the first time as the Throne?

Those are just two of the 16 awesome moments compiled as part of a list of our Best MTV Live Performances of 2011. As the year draws to a close, the music experts at MTV News, MTV.com, Buzzworthy and MTV’s music and talent department have narrowed down hundreds of live musical performances from 2011 to a carefully curated 16. Now, it’s up to you to vote and decide on the Best MTV Live Performance of the year.

Voting is under way now and will remain open through Monday, December 12, at noon ET.

The choices are pretty amazing and they include Grammy nominee Adele’s mesmerizing “Someone Like You” from the VMAs, Odd Future’s mayhem-filled performance of “Sandwitches” and “Yonkers” at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards and Paramore’s set ?at the “Fueled by Ramen 15th Anniversary Concert.”

Also on the list is Mac Miller slaying the crowd during “Knock Knock” at “Mac Miller: Live in Chicago,” MTV exclusives like 30 Seconds to Mars’ MTV “Unplugged” show, Jack’s Mannequin’s rooftop take on “Release Me” and other memorable moments from Chris Brown, Pitbull, Wiz Khalifa, Lupe Fiasco, Lil Wayne, Foster the People, Robyn and Two Door Cinema Club.

Vocal problems may have forced Adele to scrap her U.S. tour, but next month, she’ll return to the States … with a live CD and DVD.

Due out November 29, Live at the Royal Albert Hall was recorded during Adele’s rousing September show at the iconic London venue, and features her full 90-minute performance, which includes her biggest hits from the 19 and 21 albums, plus covers of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and the Steeldrivers’ “If It Hadn’t Been for Love.” The film, directed by Paul Dugdale (who has previously worked with the Prodigy, Florence and the Machine and, of course, Adele herself), also contains exclusive behind-the-scenes content shot throughout the day.

The CD/DVD package is currently available for pre-order through Adele’s website, and fans might want to pick it up, as it’s probably the last time they’ll get to see the British belter for a while. She’s been battling vocal issues for months, first postponing her North American tour in June due to laryngitis, then rescheduling dates before announcing in early October that a vocal hemorrhage would force her off the road entirely.

Of course, none of that has slowed the success of her massive 21, which will once again top the Billboard albums chart next week and has sold more than 4 million copies in the U.S. alone since February. She’s also one of the most-nominated artists at next month’s American Music Awards (no word on whether she’ll attend, though), and her latest single, “Someone Like You,” currently sits atop the Billboard Hot 100.

Adele is on the road to recovery after her recent throat surgery. The British singer posted a note to fans on Monday in which she gave them an update on the procedure to remove a benign polyp from her vocal cords.

“Sorry I haven’t written for a while. Thank you for all your positive thoughts and get well wishes,” she wrote. “I’m doing really well, on the mend, super happy, relaxed and very positive with it all. The operation was a success and I’m just chilling out now until I get the all clear from my doctors.”

Last week the doctors who performed the procedure gave an update on the surgery. “Adele underwent vocal cord microsurgery by Dr. Steven Zeitels to stop recurrent vocal cord hemorrhage (bleeding) from a benign polyp,” read a statement from Massachusetts General Hospital, where the surgery took place. “This condition is typically the result of unstable blood vessels in the vocal cord that can rupture. Based on the advice of her doctor and voice therapist in the United Kingdom, Adele came to Boston to consult and undergo corrective voice surgery with Dr. Zeitels, the Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center. … Dr. Zeitels expects Adele to make a full recovery from her laser microsurgery.”

The surgery used special lasers to stop the vocal cord bleeding and has successfully been performed on other singers in the past, including Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler in 2006. It came after the “Rolling in the Deep” singer scrapped all her remaining 2011 performances and appearances on doctor’s orders.

The vocal problems were the latest hiccup in the 23-year-old singer’s plans to tour the U.S., which were previously derailed when she had to call off a string of gigs due to a bout of laryngitis.

While fans won’t be able to catch Adele live anytime soon, they can check out her first live concert film, “Live at the Royal Albert Hall,” which hits stores on November 29. The nearly 90-minute event focuses on her singing, eschewing the typical backstage vignettes, interviews with fans and confessional moments.

Kreayshawn performed to a room full of bad bitches (or so she claimed) at MTV’s Times Square studio in New York City earlier this month. With only a mic and DJ, the tatted rapper put on a live version of “Gucci Gucci,” the song that helped land her a lucrative contract with Columbia Records.

“When I was growing up, I would listen to all kinds of music,” said the Oakland artist, who recently directed a video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. “My mom was like a music fiend, so she was playing everything from salsa to hardcore rap music to rebel punk music, so I got a little bit of everything.”

Kreayshawn will compete against Tyler, the Creator, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, and Foster the People for Best New Artist at next month’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Amy Winehouse’s music lives on. Four days after her tragic death, the soul singer’s sophomore LP has re-entered the top 10 on the albums chart.

Winehouse’s Grammy-winning effort Back to Black makes its way back onto the Billboard 200 this week at No. 9 with 37,000 copies sold in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. The week prior, it only moved 1,000 units.

Meanwhile, the late songstress’ 2004 debut Frank also climbs back onto the chart at No. 57 with 8,000. According to Billboard, there were more Winehouse albums purchased in the past week (55,000) than during the first six months of the year (44,000).

More than 95% of the album sales were comprised of downloads. Winehouse’s music is expected to see an even larger boost in sales next week after a full week’s report.

Lloyd aims for the crown with King of Hearts, his fourth album and first since 2008’s Lesson in Love, boasting a royal lineup including André 3000, R. Kelly, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, and Keri Hilson. The smooth operator and executive producer Polow Da Don craft a star-studded set featuring everything from the hilariously raunchy “Dedication to My Ex (Miss That)” to the politically-minded “World Cry.” Did he deliver a winning hand? USA Today: Producer Polow Da Don provides most of the tracks and injects them with infectious thump, but it’s Lloyd’s energetic but smooth deliveries that create a diverse set of keepers. 3/4

The New York Times: His finest moment remains Street Love, from 2007, one of the frothiest R&B albums in recent memory. In places King of Hearts approaches that album’s cool breeze. It’s produced largely by Polow Da Don, who clearly sees Lloyd as something of a muse. He’s feeling the full range of his lushness here, from the exuberant horns on “Cupid” and a pointedly romantic sax on “Naked” to the clustered, mournful guitars on “This Is 4 My Baby.”

Los Angeles Times: Janelle Monáe, Katy B, The-Dream, Frank Ocean and even Beyoncé have delivered recent efforts that transcend the trappings of modern soul. Lloyd Polite could stand to follow their example and be a little ruder. 2.5/4

Beyoncé was on cloud nine after her history-making performance at Glastonbury on Sunday. Moments after coming off stage, a beaming B could hardly contain her excitement when reflecting on the career milestone.

“I’m completely high. It’s so surreal what just happened,” she told Lauren Laverne and Jo Whiley. “This is like a highlight of my career.”

The global superstar had been preparing the headlining set for about two months in advance. “I don’t normally do festivals and 175,000 people, and I was very nervous,” she said. “And everyone gave me so much love and I will never, ever, ever, ever forget this.”

She sent over the 90-minute set list to festival veteran and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for approval, and believes that Jay-Z’s headline-making performance in 2008 opened the door for her.

“I was able to see my husband perform here a couple years ago and it was one of the most exciting nights for me, and I don’t know if I would have been asked to come if he didn’t do the performance,” revealed B.

There’s no hatching from eggs or controversial biblical themes in the video for Lady Gaga’s latest single “The Edge of Glory.” Instead, the only surprise is the lack of surprises. The pop megastar takes a simpler approach with her latest work, wearing the same studded Versace outfit and black-and-white wig throughout the entire clip as she cavorts outside a brick building resembling her New York apartment.

Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band, who recently suffered a stroke, plays the saxophone on a stoop as Gaga climbs the fire escape and dances on the sidewalk while pink lights illuminate the night sky.

Choreographer Laurieann Gibson previously told Rap-Up TV that something “very fishy” would happen in the video, but we didn’t see anything of the sort. Was the original concept scrapped in favor of something less edgy?

Alex Da Kid has found a home. The super-producer has inked a deal to bring his label to Interscope Records.

The Grammy-winning hitmaker, who’s applied his platinum touch to artists including Eminem and Rihanna (“Love the Way You Lie”), B.o.B (“Airplanes”), Diddy-Dirty Money (“Coming Home”), and Dr. Dre (“I Need a Doctor”), has announced KIDinaKORNER as the name of his newly-minted label, which was formerly titled Wonderland Music.

The first offering will be a solo album from singer-songwriter Skylar Grey, who has written and appeared on many of Alex’s hits. Her buzz single “Dance Without You” will be released in full on June 7.

“Developing artists that influence and shape popular culture in an authentic way has always been a huge goal of mine,” said the London-born producer. “Jimmy Iovine understands that and has been a true mentor to me over the past year. I look forward to continuing all the success we have already had together.”

Iovine, Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M, welcomed him to the family, also home to Eminem, Lady Gaga, and U2. “Interscope has always been committed to great producers, and I think in Alex we found one that will be around for a long time.”

The official numbers are in. Lady Gaga’s Born This Way reigns atop the albums chart with over a million copies sold in its first week, becoming the biggest debut since 2005.

The pop powerhouse’s third album enters at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 1,108,000 units, according to Billboard. It also marks Gaga’s first No. 1 album. Her debut The Fame peaked at No. 2 and its follow-up The Fame Monster reached No. 5.

Born This Way is the 17th album to sell over a million in a week since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. It outperformed Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III (1,005,000) and Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (1,047,000), boasting the largest sales week of any album since 50 Cent’s The Massacre moved 1,141,000 copies in March 2005.

Gaga is the fifth woman to sell a million copies in one week following Britney Spears’ Oops! I Did It Again (1,319,000), The Bodyguard soundtrack featuring Whitney Houston (1,061,000), Norah Jonas’ Feels Like Home (1,022,000), and Swift.

Born This Way benefited from $0.99 pricing on Amazon.com, which accounted for an estimated 440,000 copies. The promotion was not organized by Gaga’s label, Interscope Records, and cost the online retailer a reported $3.2 million over two days, according to Billboard’s estimate.
